Challenges

DICE Support is an NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) provider offering accommodation and retreat services for people with disabilities in the Sunshine Hills area behind Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Their website needed to effectively communicate with potential NDIS clients and provide detailed information about their services.

The main challenges for this project included:

  1. Lack of Familiarity with NDIS: At the start of the project, our team had little prior knowledge of the NDIS system, a complex space aimed at supporting people with disabilities.
  2. Security Concerns: Given the sensitivity of the information and the nature of the audience, ensuring that the site was secure and protected from hacks was a top priority.
  3. Accessible Design: The site needed to be not only visually appealing but also accessible to people with disabilities, many of whom might have mobility issues or other impairments. It was essential to create a welcoming and functional environment for these individuals.

Solutions

To tackle the challenges, we implemented the following solutions:

  1. Custom-Coded Website for Security: Understanding the need for a secure platform, we built a custom-coded site. This provided a higher level of security compared to traditional CMS platforms, ensuring the site was protected from hacking attempts and aligned with privacy standards required for an NDIS provider.
  2. Visual and Accessible Design: We focused heavily on designing a visually stunning website filled with beautiful images that captured the essence of the retreats and accommodations DICE Support offers. A lot of effort went into ensuring the design not only looked great but also conveyed a sense of peace and relaxation, tailored to people with disabilities.
  3. NDIS-Specific Information: Despite our initial lack of experience with the NDIS space, we quickly gained an understanding of the core services DICE Support provides, particularly the importance of accessible accommodations for people with mobility challenges. The site was built to effectively communicate the company’s mission and services to potential clients and their families.
  4. Sensitivity and Usability: Recognizing the diverse needs of the audience, we ensured the website was highly usable, sensitive to the needs of people with disabilities, and designed to be welcoming. It provided easy navigation and information access, which was crucial for people with limited mobility or other challenges.

Results

The completed website was highly successful in meeting both the client’s and their customers’ needs:

  1. Enhanced User Engagement: The site effectively conveyed the beauty and serenity of the accommodations, encouraging potential clients to explore more about the retreat services.
  2. High Security: By custom coding the site, we achieved a robust level of security, meeting the client's need for a safe and hack-proof platform.
  3. Positive Client Feedback: The client was very pleased with the website’s ability to portray the accessible retreats and accommodations, creating a sense of trust and reliability for NDIS clients.
  4. Improved Awareness: The site provided a solid platform for DICE Support to expand its reach and inform more potential clients about their accessible retreat services.
